Happiness = Personal effort
“Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it…” - Eat, Pray, Love

After a too-long day on my feet baking, I had to sit down prop my feet up and eat my way to a few extra kilos. So my family and I went to Swensen’s in Subang Parade to have our dinner. Seriously it’s been ages since I last went to the place, I think it must have been years. We used to go every other weekend or so – I’d have the baked rice and munch off my dad’s freezing cold rock hard mint ice cream cone. We were actually planning to go to Sushi King which is where we usually go now but Abang Azrul said “Hey, it’s Friday. Swensen’s.” And that sentence totally made sense til I walked past TGIF. It’s Friday >.<’ The place was so empty. I think I only saw 4 other tables filled. They should do a deal on one of the group-buying sites to draw more crowd in. I think people (like me!) just forgot it even existed. Kind of...

Have you heard? Tammy (of the Plusizekitten fame) is throwing a pedicure party to celebrate 3 years of being a blogger I shouldn’t be so happy to be reminded that it’s been that long since I’ve been stalking her and that long that she’s been leaving me lemming after this and that after each post (she goes and does and tries so many things that you’d have to do it too). Or at least I’ve been living my life vicariously through you, Tammy. LOL. So the concept of the pedicure party is uber cute. Last I heard, there might be pink bathrobes to swath ourselves in and perhaps even a wig. So as you guys can expect, the princess in me (who’s never too far under the surface anywayyy) leaped and twirled around at the prospect of being spoiled silly! The only thing I’m not too excited about is probably a group shot of many pairs of pretty legs and...

What I really meant to say was, Obliterate: Snarky comments veiled by a joke. I just thought the title sounded catchier that way. Kidding. So every now and then (if I even remember to after posting this one)  I’m going to write an article about the things in life that should be obliterated. Expunged with. Crossed out. Banned. Deleted! (StrongBad voice) We all know that there is truth in humor. By a huge percentage, whatever a person jokes about is exactly what he/she is trying to say, but is passing it off as a joke. Really, that’s the easiest way to get out of the sticky situation that you’d find yourself in had you just said directly the offensive things you meant. And I don’t really blame them, because we do live in a polite society where you can’t say tactless things without reprieve or looking horrible and sounding horrible and feeling horrible having...

I had a Day Out yesterday, which was fun. But let’s start with Day In. I spent the morning having The Ellen Show marathon and giggling happily to myself.  Come lunchtime, I was assigned kitchen duty. Like I said, I was on my bed giggling happily to myself – that’s when my mom dropped the bomb. “Sabrina, we have to make food for 500″ I was like wha!!  There was a million things to do- can you imagine the cucur badak was just one of the kuihs for one of the meals of the day? I looked at the menu and nearly got a heart attack. I was thinking how do people eat so much?? Haha! So I spent the rest of the day weighing and rolling a kuih that I’ve  never even eaten before.  In fact, I thought it was cucuk badak. Me: I’m so tired buat a million cucuk badaks. Izha: Kesian ye badak tu kena cucuk. Me: …. So I smelled something fishy and googled...

Yes, you read the title right. I’m going to talk Justin Bieber.   What spurred it? Ellen Degeneres*. I stalk Ellen on youtube for hours everyday and today I went through so many Ellen-Bieber vids. Obviously Ellen* has this way of making you love every guest on her show (while your love for her multiplies) and there were just so many adorable videos of Ellen* and Bieber, all with mentions of Never Say Never, that I couldn’t help but have my curiosity piqued. I tried to hold it off as long as I could, but after their hilarious prediction of how Gaga’s Born This Way would turn out and Bieber’s $40,668-worth belated birthday gift (spoiler: a lock of his hair. Seriously) for Ellen, I found myself giving in. Oh heck. It’s just one movie. If it’s bad I’ll only have wasted two hours of my life. I was just so excited to see Ellen in the movie! He...

There’s a first for everything: The finished product! Lemon macarons with buttercream filling ;D   lemon macarons in the oven   Lemon macarons out of the oven waiting to cool for filling   First batch of lemon macarons, filled and done     Sometimes when we’re in the middle of baking, we just have to have some. Like making cookies – it’s like a necessary rite of passage to completion of the cookies for us to eat the cookie dough. Especially if it’s frozen. Mmmm.. Yum. Or when you help stir and season half-boiled eggs, it’s completely necessary to have a huge spoonful after each stir and each shake of pepper. No? That’s just me then? Oh. Anyway, obviously macarons fall into that category. Obviously. *dreamy eyes*   So I love you, macarons. Very much. I’m so grateful that you cooperated...
